Slideshows
How lucky that I have jsut recently put together a slide show of my library! When it uploads properly I will ahve a look at it and maybe do some alterations. I love playing with Windows Movie maker at home and use the software with my camera to manipulate and send images all the time so this was familar ground for myself. Yeah!
Nings
Well, what can I say? I personally dont have a use for them but I can see where they would come in handy. My Husband is right into RC cars. He has web sites, forums, stores, magazine subscriptions etc all in his favourites. If he built a NING for it all then he would have it all in one spot, accessable away form home and other people could add their sites etc to it.
I think for these to work you need an interest that is big enought o make up the elements of the NING, the people with you on the interest and the TIME to set it up and then use and maintain it.

Counting the people
If you used your blog and your other accounts as major tools these counters would be superb! I had fun with my survey, wish people could fill it out.
I have done a survey liek this for a friend's Uni assingment and I found completing it to be easy and stress free. making one was too!

Delicious
I have not really had a need for this as I only have one computer and all my Favs are on it. I can see how this would be exceelent if you moved around computers or if you shared one computer with someone. You could have all your favs and they could have all theirs with no mix ups or mess.

Today I have signed up for Twitter. Kootingal Library is the name.
I am not sure about Twitter, I feel that we have grown very vain if we think that people really care what we are doing at all hours?
I can, however, see how useful it can be for prominate people to get out where they will be and what for.

News For March
Hello everyone!
I hope you all enjoyed the Summer holidays and are getting back into the swing of life again. Welcome to any new comers to our village.
Storytime is up and running once more, Pre school age storytime is at 1030 on Tuesday mornings. The session consists of songs, story’s being read and a craft for the children to do. Story’s are theme based for the term, this term being bugs and under the sea. Please come along and join in the fun!
The Kootingal Preschool is now joining us for a storytime on Tuesdays at 1130. They are all enjoying that immensely and I would like to thank the preschool for their visits.
If your New Year’s resolution was to research your family tree then don’t forget the tremendous FREE access you have to Ancestory.com at your local library branch. You will need to enter your library membership barcode and pin to access. If you do not yet have a pin on your library card ask next time you visit the library and we will arrange this for you.
Our Summer Reading Program went well. Congratulations to all the children who participated. A certificate of Participation will be coming your way very soon. Thank you to all the parents who bring their children to the library, it is lovely to see their smiling faces and hear them read their wonderful stories.
On the collection side of things I have done a huge swap with the other libraries in our area and we now have new Mills and Boon paperbacks in stock as well as a new batch of craft magazines, including scrapbooking.
New signage on the front door has gone up and looks great. No more confusion over the hours.
Until next time,
Kerrie Shaw
